Ellington Named 2019 IBA Legislator of the Year

State Rep. Jeff Ellington, R- Bloomington, has been named 2019 Legislator of the Year by the Indiana Bankers Association. He was presented with the award on Sept. 16 at the IBA’s annual convention in French Lick. Since taking office in 2015, Rep. Ellington has proven to be an effective legislator who understands how to build consensus and fix problems facing the state and his constituents.

Indiana Banks and Purdue University Northwest Create Banking Concentration

Members of the Indiana banking community presented a donation of $135,000 to Purdue University Northwest at a PNW Banking Program Summit held in Hammond on May 24. The donation supports a newly created banking concentration to be offered within the finance major of the College of Business. This university-level banking concentration is the first of its kind in Indiana.

Indiana Bankers Association Announces New Insurance Agency, IBA Insurance Solutions

Indianapolis – The Indiana Bankers Association (IBA) is pleased to announce a new subsidiary, IBA Insurance Solutions. IBA Insurance Solutions is a full-service, independent insurance agency created to serve the needs of Indiana banks by providing industry-specific expertise. Areas of expertise include: collateral protection, property/casualty, bond/D&O, cyber/breach response, BOLI, and various fee income products and strategies.

Indiana Bankers Association Announces Board of Directors for 2019

Members of the 2019 board of directors of the Indiana Bankers Association (IBA) have assumed positions, effective Jan. 1. Board members were elected at the IBA Annual Convention last September.

The functions of the board are to develop IBA policy and to establish long-range goals and objectives. The board also helps determine the Association’s legislative programs and positions on issues affecting the Indiana banking community.

Briggs Elected 2019 Chairman of Indiana Bankers Association

Andrew J. Briggs, current president and CEO of the Bank of Geneva, has been elected 2019 chairman of the board of directors of the Indiana Bankers Association (IBA), effective Jan. 1, 2019. He was elected in September at the Association’s Annual Convention in French Lick. Briggs represents the fifth generation of his family to serve as president of Bank of Geneva, following in the footsteps of his great-great-grandfather James Day, great-grandfather Andrew G. Briggs, grandfather James D. Briggs Sr.

Karickhoff Named 2018 Legislator of the Year by Indiana Bankers

State Rep. Michael Karickhoff, R-Kokomo, has been named 2018 Legislator of the Year by the Indiana Bankers Association (IBA). He was presented with the award on Sept. 10 at the Association’s annual convention in French Lick. Karickhoff was recognized for his skillful bipartisan consensus-building, combined with a keen understanding of fiscal issues critical to the economic wellbeing of Hoosiers.

Ewing Named Sagamore of the Wabash

Clay W. Ewing, president, chief banking officer and secretary to the board of directors of German American Bancorp Inc. and of German American Bank, Jasper, has been named a Sagamore of the Wabash by Gov. Eric J. Holcomb. Additionally, Ewing serves the banking community as 2018 chairman of the board of the Indiana Bankers Association (IBA). The award was presented to Ewing by Thomas C. Fite, director of the Indiana Department of Financial Institutions, at the IBA Annual Convention in French Lick on Sept. 9.

Leaders in Banking Excellence to be Honored by Indiana Bankers Association

The Indiana Bankers Association (IBA) is honoring nine members of the Indiana banking community with its first annual IBA Leaders in Banking Excellence awards, to be presented at a special ceremony on Aug. 3 at the IBA offices in Indianapolis. This newly created award celebrates exceptional Indiana bankers whose leadership has positively impacted banks and the communities they serve.
