Former Hobart city councilman David Vinzant, a Democrat, will represent all or parts of Gary, Hobart, Merrillville and Crown Point as he completes the 11 months remaining in the Indiana Senate term of now-Gary Mayor Eddie Melton. E-News 12-21-23 STATE GOVERNMENT RELATIONS State's Budget Surplus Takes Big Hit with Medicaid Costs, Dip in Revenue Growth An unexpected $1 billion jump in projected Medicaid expenses to state government and a slowdown in tax revenue growth will mean a big hit to the state's budget surplus.
