IBA E-News 1-3-20 STATE GOVERNMENT RELATIONS Indiana General Assembly to Convene Next Week The Indiana General Assembly has scheduled the start of the 2020 legislative session for Monday, Jan. 6. This year’s short session is set to conclude by March 14, but is widely expected to end several days before the official end date. All legislation must be filed by the end of next week. The IBA Government Relations Team will be reviewing bills as they are released and will provide updates on notable issues in the state GR section of IBA E-News throughout the 2020 session. IBA E-News 12-13-19   STATE GOVERNMENT RELATIONS Indiana Lawmakers Set to Return Jan. 6 The Indiana General Assembly is scheduled to convene the 2020 legislative session on Jan. 6.  This coming year’s session is considered a short session, with all legislative activity to end on or before March 14. This schedule leaves just over two months for members of the General Assembly to pass any legislation into state law. IBA E-News 12-6-19 STATE GOVERNMENT RELATIONS     Huston Selected as Next House Speaker Indiana House Republicans met Monday and selected State Rep. Todd Huston (R-Fishers) to serve as the next House speaker. House Speaker Brian Bosma (R-Indianapolis) recently announced his retirement after the 2020 legislative session. To provide a smooth transition, House Republicans chose Huston to serve as speaker-elect.
