Future Leadership Division

TFLD Logohe future of the Indiana banking community relies not only on its current leadership structure, but also on our collective ability to develop young leaders for future success. With that vision, the Indiana Bankers Association created the IBA Future Leadership Division (FLD) as a platform to support the next generation of Indiana bankers. The mission of the FLD is to connect banking professionals within the IBA membership by providing education, networking and volunteer opportunities in order to develop and inspire leaders that will advocate and sustain the future of Indiana’s banking industry. The FLD is a hallmark of the Association’s commitment to the future of the Indiana banking industry.

The FLD is continuously seeking new members. Membership is free to all employees of IBA-member banks, and associate members also are eligible for membership. It is not intended exclusively for future bank presidents, CEOs or executive-level employees. The FLD believes that leadership happens at all levels and departments of the bank. FLD membership is not defined by job title, age, or management level, but for bankers who want to grow their leadership ability and be a leader in banking initiatives. Opportunities to Get Involved

Annual Leadership Conference

Each year the IBA Future Leadership Division hosts a two-day Annual Leadership Conference in Indianapolis. The event features a strong lineup of top-flight presenters, with educational sessions focusing on leadership traits, technology and industry insight. Because relationship-building is instrumental to the banking community, there is ample opportunity for peer networking with fellow future banking leaders.

Day at the Statehouse

The FLD Day at the Statehouse is dedicated to giving a voice to emerging bank leaders in the political process. Though the IBA is active politically through lobbying and PAC contributions, IBA’s most effective advocacy takes place at the grassroots level, when bankers meet face-to-face with their lawmakers to express industry views. Members of the Indiana General Assembly welcome the opportunity to hear directly from their banking constituents, and they appreciate the effort bankers make to visit them during Session. The FLD Day at the Statehouse is a prime opportunity to get to know your legislators for deepened relationship-building, while learning firsthand about the legislative process.

Mega Networking Reception

The FLD Mega Networking Reception is an event held each year in conjunction with the IBA Mega Conference in Indianapolis. This networking reception is open to all FLD members, as well as Mega Conference attendees who are interested in learning more about the Future Leadership Division. The reception is an outstanding opportunity to meet, and establish new relationships, with the FLD board, fellow FLD members, and other bankers interested in growing as banking professionals in the state of Indiana.

Lunch and Learns

The FLD believes that one of the best ways to grow as a banking professional is to learn from each other through networking opportunities with peers from across the state. Bankers, no matter their role or geographic location, each share common experiences that we all can relate to and learn from. With this idea in mind, the FLD hosts a series of Lunch and Learn events throughout the state. These lunches, reserved only for FLD members, are an excellent opportunity to network with other peer bankers and participate in a facilitated group discussion on pertinent industry topics.

FLD Spotlight Opportunities

FLD Spotlight Opportunities is a collection of in-person and online education events, as well as other networking and advocacy opportunities that provide content that can help develop leadership potential. FLD members are welcome to visit this page to view the latest opportunities to grow as a leader in the banking industry.
