The Indiana General Assembly convened the 2021 session in early January and has been able to meet regularly throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. While the legislative session operates differently due to the new safety measures in place, the engagement and attention to the policies that impact our industry is the same. Due to the ongoing pandemic, we are transitioning our traditional key grassroots advocacy event into the safety of a virtual format. This new approach will be a great opportunity to learn more about the process and policy that impacts our industry, providing you with the knowledge to engage with Indiana lawmakers on important banking issues moving forward.

1:30 p.m. - 1:50 p.m. Legislative Briefing: The IBA Government Relations Team will kick off the event with a legislative briefing. The IBA GR team will update you on legislation that could impact the industry. Their update will cover the good, the bad and the ugly in legislative proposals.
1:50 p.m.- 2:00 p.m. BANKPAC Awards
2:00 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. Indiana Week in Review, an informative and always entertaining discussion on Indiana politics with WFYI's Indiana Week in Review crew. Host Brandon Smith will cover the issues facing Indiana related to politics and policy with insightful viewpoints from panelists Mike O'Brien, Ann DeLaney, Jon Schwantes and Niki Kelly. As the program notes, you may attend for the news, but you'll stay for the no-holds-barred debate and discussion.
2:30 p.m.- 3:00 p.m. Legislator Panel: Hear from lawmakers who are leading the state’s financial services committees. Sen. Andy Zay, chairman of the Senate Insurance and Financial Institutions Committee, and Rep. Martin Carbaugh, chairman of the House Financial Institutions and Insurance Committee, are expected to attend and offer their insights about notable legislation in their committees and the 2021 legislative session in general, plus engage with bankers during a brief question and answer segment.
There is no cost for the briefing. This event is only open to IBA Members.
