Feb 4, 2025 to Feb 5, 2025
This two-day program is designed for BSA professional who are competent in the core requirements of Bank Secrecy Act rules. It will provide an advanced level of training and interactive discussion on the challenges of developing and managing an effective BSA program. As this session is virtual, and all attendees will be encouraged to participate, attendees need to find a quiet location so that background noise can be limited.
The curriculum will extensively cover Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs), dedicating ample time to this area due to SARs now encompassing a broader range of topics than ever before. Attendees are encouraged to share "war stories" related to their experiences with SAR filings while gaining a wealth of information from the presenter. Real-life BSA scenarios will also be dissected through these discussions.
This school will include the updated sections of the BSA Exam Manual that were published in 2023. While many of the new sections will have minimal impact on your bank, it is crucial for BSA officers to be aware of their existence. We will also highlight other portions of the Exam Manual as a basis for a discussion regarding specific areas of BSA compliance.
We will engage in discussions covering all of the latest pronouncements. Some introduce new material while others serve as reminders of steps the bank should have taken or should currently take. We also will focus on the 2021 law changes and the 2024 “proposed” rule, that may be “final” by the date of the presentation.
A segment of the program emphasizes BSA program management, including leveraging technology for detecting BSA issues. Additionally, students will learn to design an effective BSA program through the study of provided workflow charts.
The course heavily relies on roundtable discussions and case studies. The facilitator will steer discussions based on predetermined topics and attendee requests. Each attendee is encouraged to contribute at least one discussion topic, and attendees will be solicited for topics prior to the school. The presenters will select additional topics based on interactions with clients.
