The Future Leadership Division (FLD) Day at the Statehouse is dedicated to giving a voice to emerging bank leaders in the political process. It is a prime opportunity to get to know legislators and learn firsthand about the IBA's grassroots advocacy efforts.
Though IBA is active politically through lobbying and PAC support, IBA’s most effective advocacy takes place at the grassroots level, when bankers meet face-to-face with lawmakers to express industry views. Members of the Indiana General Assembly welcome the opportunity to hear directly from their banking constituents, and they appreciate the effort you make to visit them during the legislative session.
FLD Day at the Statehouse is your opportunity to become politically engaged, and unlock your potential as an industry advocate. The tentative agenda includes the following highlights for attendees:
The tentative agenda will include an introduction to lobbying and grassroots advocacy, a review of issues facing the industry, and meetings with elected officials in the Statehouse. Other time may be spent watching the legislative process in action, observing floor sessions of the Indiana House and Senate, and exploring the halls of Indiana's Statehouse. Throughout the day, attendees will benefit from ample networking time, allowing relationships to be formed with fellow bankers.
The event will begin at 8:30 a.m. with registration and networking, and it will conclude at approximately 3:00 p.m.
Meet Your Legislators: Attendees will have an opportunity to request brief meetings with their legislators, and are encouraged to use the time to create a new relationship or build upon an existing relationship. Those interested in setting up a meeting should contact Josh Myers by Feb. 28.
Dress for the event is business attire. Comfortable walking shoes are highly recommended.
