Feb 3, 2026 to Feb 4, 2026
This two-day program is designed for BSA professionals who are competent in the core requirements of Bank Secrecy Act rules. It will provide an advanced level of training on the
challenges of developing and managing an effective BSA program. Because this session is
virtual, it will be mostly lecture; however, all attendees will be encouraged to participate
where they can. Attendees are asked to find a quiet location to limit background noise.
The curriculum will extensively cover Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs), dedicating ample
time to this area, as SARs now encompass a broader range of topics than in the past.
Attendees are encouraged to share "war stories" related to their experiences with SAR filings
while gaining useful information from the presenters. Real-life BSA scenarios will also be
explored through examples, and attendees will be asked to provide unique “war stories” prior
to the session. Names and other identifying information will be omitted. These stories will be
useful to everyone, and active contributions will improve the quality of the presentation.
This school will include the updated sections of the BSA Exam Manual published over the
last couple of years. While many of the new sections will have minimal impact on your bank,
it is important for BSA officers to be aware of them. We will also highlight other portions of
the Exam Manual as a basis for discussion on specific areas of BSA compliance, including
some aspects of cryptocurrency, which is not currently covered in the BSA Exam Manual.

We will engage in discussions covering the latest pronouncements. Some will introduce new
material, while others will serve as reminders of steps the bank should have taken or should
currently take. We will also focus on the status of the 2021 law changes and the 2024
proposed rule. We have covered this in detail in the past, and it still may or may not be final
by the date of the presentation.
A segment will discuss BSA program management, including how to leverage technology to
detect BSA issues. Students will also learn to design an effective BSA program through the
study of workflow charts.
Since we are virtual, the facilitator will steer discussions based on predetermined topics and
attendee requests. Each attendee is encouraged to contribute at least one discussion topic,
and attendees will be asked for topics and “war stories” prior to the school. Presenters may
select additional topics based on student contributions, or topics may change based on new
pronouncements issued before the presentation.
