Briggs Elected 2019 Chairman of Indiana Bankers Association

Andrew J. Briggs, current president and CEO of the Bank of Geneva, has been elected 2019 chairman of the board of directors of the Indiana Bankers Association (IBA), effective Jan. 1, 2019. He was elected in September at the Association’s Annual Convention in French Lick. Briggs represents the fifth generation of his family to serve as president of Bank of Geneva, following in the footsteps of his great-great-grandfather James Day, great-grandfather Andrew G. Briggs, grandfather James D. Briggs Sr.

Karickhoff Named 2018 Legislator of the Year by Indiana Bankers

State Rep. Michael Karickhoff, R-Kokomo, has been named 2018 Legislator of the Year by the Indiana Bankers Association (IBA). He was presented with the award on Sept. 10 at the Association’s annual convention in French Lick. Karickhoff was recognized for his skillful bipartisan consensus-building, combined with a keen understanding of fiscal issues critical to the economic wellbeing of Hoosiers.

Ewing Named Sagamore of the Wabash

Clay W. Ewing, president, chief banking officer and secretary to the board of directors of German American Bancorp Inc. and of German American Bank, Jasper, has been named a Sagamore of the Wabash by Gov. Eric J. Holcomb. Additionally, Ewing serves the banking community as 2018 chairman of the board of the Indiana Bankers Association (IBA). The award was presented to Ewing by Thomas C. Fite, director of the Indiana Department of Financial Institutions, at the IBA Annual Convention in French Lick on Sept. 9.

Leaders in Banking Excellence to be Honored by Indiana Bankers Association

The Indiana Bankers Association (IBA) is honoring nine members of the Indiana banking community with its first annual IBA Leaders in Banking Excellence awards, to be presented at a special ceremony on Aug. 3 at the IBA offices in Indianapolis. This newly created award celebrates exceptional Indiana bankers whose leadership has positively impacted banks and the communities they serve.

Report on the State of Economic Education in Indiana K-12 Schools

Members of the media and the Indiana banking community are invited to a news conference, co-hosted by the Indiana Council for Economic Education (ICEE) and the Indiana Bankers Association (IBA), covering the state of economic education in Indiana K-12 schools.

Indiana Bankers Association Announces Board of Directors for 2018

Members of the 2018 board of directors of the Indiana Bankers Association (IBA) have assumed their positions, effective Jan. 1. Board members were elected at the IBA Annual Convention in French Lick last September. The functions of the board are to develop IBA policy and to establish long-range goals and objectives. The board also helps determine IBA’s legislative programs and positions on issues affecting the banking community. 

Indiana Bankers Association Wins Statewide Award

   The Indiana Bankers Association (IBA) has been honored with the 2017 Impactful Technology award of excellence from the Indiana Society of Association Executives. The award, presented at a gala event on Dec. 7 in downtown Indianapolis, was in recognition of the multipurpose IBA App, which provides anytime/anywhere access to IBA events, staff listings, Hoosier Banker Digital and other IBA opportunities.

Russell Granted Circle of Corydon Award

Annette M. Russell, president and CEO of Security Federal Savings Bank, Logansport, has been granted a Circle of Corydon award by Gov. Eric J. Holcomb. Russell also serves the banking community as 2017 chair of the Indiana Bankers Association (IBA). She was presented with the Circle of Corydon award, which recognizes exemplary citizens who have made remarkable contributions to the betterment of Indiana, on Sept. 12 at the IBA Annual Convention in French Lick.

 

Ewing Elected 2018 Chairman of Indiana Bankers Association

Clay W. Ewing, president, chief banking officer and secretary to the board of directors of German American Bancorp Inc., Jasper, has been elected 2018 chairman of the board of directors of the Indiana Bankers Association (IBA). He currently serves the IBA as first vice chairman and was elected to his new position at the Association’s annual business meeting on Sept. 11 in French Lick.
