State Sen. Scott Baldwin, R-Noblesville, has been named 2024 Legislator of the Year by the Indiana Bankers Association. The award was presented Sunday, Sept. 8, at the IBA Annual Convention in French Lick.
The Legislator of the Year award recognizes Sen. Baldwin for his stewardship of a strong banking environment in the Hoosier State. Baldwin has been a strong supporter of the banking industry since joining the General Assembly in 2021. He serves as chair of the Senate Insurance and Financial Institutions Committee.
Through his committee leadership this past year, he paved the way for significant policy choices ensuring Indiana is a place where community banks continue to thrive, directly benefitting our customers and the communities we serve through greater access to financial services.
"A stable banking system is crucial for the everyday Hoosiers and businesses that rely on them and our state’s economic system as a whole,” Baldwin said. “I have done my best as a state senator to craft and support policies that ensure our financial systems are on sound footing, and it’s an honor to be recognized as Indiana Bankers Association’s Legislator of the Year.”
Baldwin represents Senate District 20, which includes portions of Hamilton County. In addition to chairing the Insurance and Financial Institutions Committee, he is ranking member of the Tax and Fiscal Policy Committee and a member of the Environmental Affairs Committee.
Baldwin served in the United States Marine Corps; U.S. Army Reserves; Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, including time as supervisor for the Metropolitan Drug Task Force and Homicide units and earning the IMPD Medal of Valor and two IMPD Medals of Bravery; the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office reserves and Indiana Department of Correction’s Special Emergency Response Team. He currently works in construction and real estate development at Envoy Inc. and IT/Infrastructure as a Service at Cloudapt LLC.
In the community, Baldwin serves on the finance council of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church and is a lifetime member of both The American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He is a former member of the boards of directors for Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana and Food Rescue; Riverview Hospital’s board of trustees; the Hamilton County Health Department’s health board and Hamilton County Redevelopment Commission. He has also volunteered as a youth football coach with his local Catholic Youth Organization.
“Sen. Baldwin has dedicated his life to serving others, from his military service and time in law enforcement to now serving Hoosiers in the Indiana Senate,” said Dax Denton, chief policy officer for the IBA. “In his short time at the Statehouse, Sen. Baldwin has distinguished himself as an impeccable public servant, and we are fortunate to have him fighting for a healthy banking environment and overall state economy. The Indiana Bankers Association is pleased to name Sen. Baldwin as the 2024 IBA Legislator of the Year.”
