SEC repeals controversial crypto accounting rules for banks

The Securities and Exchange Commission issued a staff accounting bulletin reversing a previous bulletin that changed how banks and other publicly traded entities were expected to account for digital assets held in custody.

Trump revokes Biden orders on AI, climate-related financial risks

President Trump rescinded a 2023 executive order directing federal agencies to draft new rules governing the use of AI and a 2021 order seeking more disclosure of financial risks linked to climate change.

Trump names acting leadership at Treasury, FDIC, other agencies

Immediately upon assuming office Monday, President Trump designated several chairs and acting heads of agencies and departments. Travis Hill will be acting Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. chairman; David Lebryk will lead Treasury until Scott Bessent's confirmation. Trump also issued an executive order pausing all agency rulemakings.

FDIC’s Hill outlines agency priorities in Trump administration

Acting Chairman Travis Hill promised to ditch recent changes to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp.’s process for reviewing proposed bank mergers and to rescind “problematic” Biden-era proposed rules, such as those on brokered deposits and corporate governance.
