Indiana session expected to conclude shortly

The Indiana General Assembly is expected to conclude the 2026 legislative session by the end of Friday or early Saturday. Lawmakers are in the final stages of negotiations on a handful of remaining bills. The IBA GR team has been monitoring legislation closely throughout this week.

  • Senate Bill 256 – Foreign agent registration, foreign terrorist organizations, and foreign adversaries

  • Senate Bill 243 – Various tax matters (includes penny phaseout language)

  • House Bill 1210 – Department of local government finance

Regulators field lawmaker questions on Basel endgame, stablecoins

Regulators said they expect to repropose the Basel III endgame capital requirements by the end of March and fielded questions about the possible effects of stablecoins on bank deposits.

OCC releases proposed rule to implement payment stablecoin legislation

The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency released a proposed rule to implement the GENIUS Act, including how it would handle the law’s prohibition on paying interest or yield on payment stablecoins.

The Federal Reserve is seeking public comment on a proposal to codify its recent decision to remove the use of reputational risk from its bank supervision.

Bank Secrecy Act filings used in most IRS-CI financial crime investigations

Bank Secrecy Act filings have been used in nearly every financial crime investigation conducted by IRS Criminal Investigation, “underscoring the integral role BSA data has in uncovering and prosecuting financial crimes across the country,” according to a new report by the agency.
