FDIC pushes back comment deadline for disclosure rule
The Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. will extend the public comment deadline for its proposed bank information disclosure rule to align it with a deadline for a similar rule proposed by the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. The American Bankers Association asked for the extension.
Fed OIG report outlines Trump administration efforts to scale back CFPB
The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau was temporarily unable to perform some of its statutory duties because of Trump administration stop-work orders, according to a new report by the Federal Reserve Office of Inspector General. The office also concluded that the administration's attempts to reduce the bureau’s staff size have had only limited effect on its operations because court orders have paused those efforts.

House members release CFPB-reform bill
Members of the House Financial Services Committee introduced legislation to reform the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
Committee Chairman French Hill, R-Ark., Financial Institutions Subcommittee Chairman Andy Barr, R-Ky., and nearly all committee Republicans unveiled the Consumer Financial Protection Accountability and Reform Act of 2026.
The bill would bring the CFPB into the congressional appropriations process, clarify the bureau’s authority, establish a dedicated inspector general and require periodic reviews of major rules.
House passes short-term funding bill
The House passed legislation to fund the federal government through early December and temporarily extend several programs, including the National Flood Insurance Program. The bill now heads to President Trump’s desk.
