The Indiana Bankers Association (IBA) announces the hiring of two new staff members, plus the promotions of two of its associates. These personnel changes are in support of the IBA’s 2018-2020 strategic plan featuring five goal pillars: Tell the Story, Fiscal Strength, Education, Government Relations and Next-Gen Bankers.
Eric J. Augustus has joined the Indiana Bankers Association as vice president-government relations. As a member of the IBA Government Relations Team, he will help to analyze issues, review legislation, build relationships with policymakers and enhance IBA’s grassroots advocacy. Before joining the Association, Augustus was executive director of the Indiana Utility Shareholders Association, which he joined in 2014. Previously he served for three years with the Indiana Association of Realtors, most recently as government affairs director. Augustus had prior work experience as a legislative assistant in the Indiana House of Representatives. He is currently vice president of the Government Affairs Society of Indiana, scheduled to be named president in 2019. Augustus is a graduate of Indiana University-Indianapolis.
Josh Myers has been promoted to assistant vice president-member engagement. His responsibilities include leading the IBA Future Leadership Division, managing Indiana BANKPAC and IBA grassroots advocacy, and overseeing social media and IBA-member engagement strategies. Previously he served as executive & government relations coordinator. Myers joined the IBA in 2009 after prior experience with the Indiana State Senate Republican caucus, Bose Public Affairs Group and the House Republican Campaign Committee. He is a graduate of Purdue University.
Emily Brooks has joined the Indiana Bankers Association in the newly created position of member engagement specialist. Her responsibilities include producing digital media content such as videos, photos, graphics and social media postings. Additionally Brooks will be overseeing the IBA website and producing IBA E-News, the Association’s weekly e-newsletter. Her past work experience includes video production and marketing internships with Indiana INTERNnet and the Indiana Association for Adult and Continuing Education. She is a graduate of Indiana University.
Michelle Long has been named government relations coordinator, with responsibilities that include gathering information for the IBA Government Relations Team, tracking legislative news and events, and organizing advocacy events. Additionally Long is instrumental in providing customer service, maintaining the IBA database, updating member contact information and offering administrative support. Prior to joining the IBA in 2008, she managed a retail establishment for more than 10 years, with previous experience in office management and administrative support.
